Application for the PLI program for the textile sector extended until February 28

New Delhi: The government has again extended the apto foldcation for the PLI Scheme for the textile sector. In an official statement, the Ministry of textiles informed that it has further extended the deadline for submitting applications under the PLI scheme for textiles until February 28, 2022.

Previously, the date for submitting the online application under the PLI Scheme for Textiles was until January 31, 2022, which has been extended until February 14, 2022. This is the second time the date has been extended. .

According to the sources, the ministry has yet to resolve a few issues, mainly related to the HSN code for technical textiles, due to which the date for submitting applications has been extended.

Sources say that so far, the ministry has received about 46 draft applications for the PLI program for the textile sector, while about 80 applicants have registered for the incentive-based program.

In December, the government had approved the PLI program for textiles, with an approved expenditure of ₹10,683 crore for five years to promote the production of MMF garments, MMF fabrics and technical textile products.

The Ministry of Textile had started accepting online applications for textiles from January 1, 2022, through the portal pli.texmin.gov.in/mainapp/Default. Previously, the application window was to remain open from January 1, 2022 to January 31, 2022. Then, the deadline was extended for another two weeks until February 14, 2022.

The PLI scheme in textiles was approved by the Cabinet of the Union in September which had approved the proposed Production Linked Incentives (PLI) scheme for specific segments of the textile sector.
