Black woman says Delta ignored her job application for five years until she applied as a white woman

A black woman said that for five years now she had been applying to be a flight attendant with Delta Airlines without success. Things changed recently when she pretended to be a white woman, Regina De’Chabert said in a video she posted to TikTok on Sunday.

De’Chabert claimed that she repeatedly applied for the position at Delta without ever being called back for a position. So she decided to reapply as a white woman and was eventually invited for a second-round interview.

“Applying to Delta for a flight attendant position for 5 years and getting turned down. Applying as a white female, finally received a second interview email,” De’Chabert said in her video caption on TikTok.

Over 200,000 TikTok users have seen his video. Some agreed with her, sharing what they had also experienced applying for jobs as a Black American. Others felt that De’Chabert was exaggerating.

She responded in a follow up video, “What I will say is I am so happy for other black women in this field who have gotten callbacks, jobs, etc…. Just because you got the job doesn’t mean he’s denying my experience. Just because you got the job doesn’t invalidate my experiences with that airline, and with JetBlue and other airlines in New York.

A Delta spokesperson told The Independent: “Delta does not tolerate any form of discrimination in any aspect of our business, and these allegations go against our core values of respecting and honoring diversity. “

This is not the first time that a black man has claimed to have been refused a job because of the color of his skin. Some even say they are ignored because of their name.

A recent report shows that despite an improved labor market, African Americans still cannot secure well-paying jobs that offer stability with quality benefits.
