ST. LOUIS – We all know restaurants are hurting. But other than ordering take-out, there has been little way to support local businesses. Have you heard the expression “give them the shirt off your back”? Well, the shirt on your back can actually be used to pay it off.

“We have created a whole series of restaurants in partnership with local restaurants in the area and are just fundraising for them through the sale of t-shirts,” said Sami Maurer, owner of Series Six Co. “It was an idea that our printing partners, Soulard Left Hand Promotions who print all of our t-shirts for us. They thought of that idea, brought it to us, and we kind of leveraged it and we’ve partnered with them on this project ever since.

What started in March with six varieties of area restaurant t-shirts quickly led to a second serving – or print – and 24 local restaurants included, with more desires to be represented.

Maurer calls his Series Six Company a local clothing company focused on everything there is to love in Saint-Louis.

The t-shirts cost $ 28 apiece, sold on and 50 percent of the proceeds will go to staff from the purchased t-shirt.

“We hope that the money we raise through this can make a difference and impact our local restaurants because we obviously want them to stay,” said Maurer. “And we know the restaurant scene we have in St. Louis is such a unique thing and we want to make sure we stick to our favorite places.”
