If standing in front of a wall of sneakers is your happiness, good news.
National shoe and clothing retailer DTLR, formerly DTLR Villa, cut the ribbon at its newly renovated and expanded store in downtown Harrisburg on Monday.
“This is another example of great success here in Harrisburg,” said Brad Jones of Harristown Enterprises, the owner of the DTLR building.
Jones said DTLR is one of the city’s largest retailers and has been doing business in Harrisburg for more than 15 years, starting with Sneaker Villa.
DTLR has grown from 4,000 to 7,000 square feet, allowing the company to expand its merchandise offering, said Dale Redmond, DTLR district manager for Central PA.
Redmond pointed to additional tables for clothing display, increased space for accessories, and sections for women and children. DTLR offers brands like Nike, Jordan, Adidas, Levis, Timberland, and UGG, among others.
According to Jones, the renovations cost about $ 700,000. The store was completely emptied, and in February DTLR temporarily moved to the former vacant Rite Aid location down the street.
Redmond was excited to complete the renovations before the students returned for an in-person learning at the University of Harrisburg, she said, explaining how they make up a large portion of the store’s customer base.
“People are ready to come back downtown and shop,” Mayor Eric Papenfuse said. “This store not only persevered, but grew. “
DTLR is located at 333 Market St., Harrisburg. Its hours are Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
