People’s Leasing and Finance PLC (PLC) recently unveiled its mobile application, PLC Touch, to facilitate a convenient user experience. The state-of-the-art app has a plethora of cool features including the insurance component which is a first for a banking app in Sri Lanka.
Shamindra Marcelline, President and CEO / CEO of People’s Leasing and Finance PLC, said, “We are delighted to be the first NBFI to bring a product of this nature to the market. This serves to make the user experience convenient and safer given the current context. All transactions can be done with just a touch, from the comfort of your own home without having to physically visit a branch. We believe this is the future of not just banking, but all industries in general – we are moving with the times and in doing so, paving the way for the local NBFI industry.
Prabath Gunasena, Deputy Managing Director – ICT (Group) of People’s Leasing and Finance PLC, added that another specialty of this app is that it is fully developed in-house and with local talent, which was a very profitable decision. compared to outsourcing. In this way, he says, the organization was able to save a substantial amount of money that could be funneled into other areas, including corporate social responsibility initiatives: “We can proudly say that technological expertise for this product came from within the organization. The app is trilingual in accordance with PLC’s philosophy of promoting diversity and inclusiveness. We’ve simplified the interface so that everyone can navigate easily without feeling overwhelmed.
Some key features of the app include: the ability to make utility and QR code based bill payments, the ability to manage savings while mapping the activities of any other account with another bank, the loan PLC and leasing rental payment through any bank account through the app, “Call and Go” function to simplify the accident claim process and the ability to get a new policy insurance in minutes without the tedious paperwork.
As an innovation pioneer in the NBFI industry, PLC launched the Self-e-Cash service whereby a customer can get an “instant loan” against a fixed deposit to be withdrawn from an ATM. The same service has been mirrored and offered through the PLC Touch app, further incorporating QR payment and invoices, funds transfer and a host of other options.
PLC hopes that this application will set a benchmark for the industry and become popular among its very diverse customer base given the simple and user-friendly interface. PLC Touch can be downloaded for free from Google Play or App Store.
